Born Roy Halston Frowick, Halston moved from his hometown of Des Moines, Iowa to Chicago to design women’s hats and by 1957 had opened up his first milliner shop. He had become a household name by creating the infamous pillbox hat for Jacqueline Kennedy and eventually launched his first ready-to-wear collection.
Halston passed away in 1990 and after changing ownership and designers several times, the brand laid dormant for many years. In March of 2007, the brand was brought to life with the help of a group of investors led by Hilco Consumer Capital, and supported by Harvey Weinstein of The Weinstein Company and CEO Bonnie Takhar.
The new Halston pays homage to the iconic designer and his aesthetic basis of impeccable sensuality and grace with an effortless, modern interpretation.
